A few months ago, I
and a friend kicked around an aborted comics project featuring
superhuman jerks being jerks on a truly superhuman level. Character
descriptions are here and the pilot plots are posted below.
1. View of Doctor Roberts' office. GUY DREIL stands at the door, opposite DOCTOR ROBERTS, who's sitting at his desk. There should be bookshelves along the wall closer to Bob and a window closer to Guy.
Smith (CAPTION BOX)
"My name is Thomas Smith."
Guy Dreil
"You don't seem concerned. He's left the compound without permission."
Smith (CAPTION BOX)
"I'm not in this one."
2. Still in Dr. Bob's office.
Smith (CAPTION BOX)
"I was thinking about lies today."
Dr. Roberts
"Of course not. In all likelihood he went home to visit his parents."
Smith (CAPTION BOX)
"There are plenty of factual things which are perfect lies."
3. TYLER is in a club, dancing with TASHA, an attractive woman his age.
Smith (CAPTION BOX)
"...and more falsehoods that are the truth."
Tyler
4. Still in the club.
Smith (CAPTION BOX)
"Sometimes, two people lie because they want to believe."
Tasha
"Really? That's cool."

1. TYLER is still in the club and he's at a bar. JESS is a white male, blonde, in preppy clothes sitting unnoticed at the bar on a stool by Tyler.

"I'm still not in this one."
Tyler
"...and a red seven."
Jess
"You look tense, Tyler."
2. TYLER is obviously flustered by seeing JESS, who's shoving something into Tyler's hand.
Smith
"Sometimes, lies are polite."
Tyler
"I'm uh, surprised to see you here."
"I'm uh, surprised to see you here."
Jess
"And not in jail? Yeah, me too. Have something for those nerves though."
3. Still in the club
Smith
"Other times, we want to hear them."
Tyler
"I...ah..."
Jess
"You need the help and I owe you. Besides, they're harmless."
4. Tyler is drinking his drink, having obviously swallowed the pills. His eyes are wide with surprise.
Smith
"Those are easier to believe."
Jess
"Unless you're a meta or something."
"Unless you're a meta or something."

"Usually."

2. Back to the club where TYLER is on the dance floor with TASHA
Smith
"If two people want to trust each other, they will"
Tyler
"...right on the lake. It's a great place."

3. As per panel 1, but ROBERTS and GUY stare at each other in silence.
Smith
"and if they don't, no amount of truth will change that."
4. As per Panel 2, but drinks, empty chairs, and napkins from the bar are beginning to levitate.
Tyler
"Hunting lodge? Wow that was weak."
Tasha
"Hunting lodge? The pretty ones are always dumb."
Smith
"but you should at least put forth an effort."

1. In the club, Tyler and Tasha have separated, both taken aback as cries rise in the club. In the background, someone yells "Fire!"
2. People are running out, TASHA runs in the same direction, past the still-stunned TYLER. Fire can be seen in the background. Another unseen person shouts "It's a meta!"

2. The SUITED FIGURE emerges from the club's door with TYLER in tow. He has keys in his free hand and there's a Jaguar parked at the curb, which is making an unlocking sound.
3. Head-on shot of the SUITED FIGURE and TYLER in the car. The SUITED FIGURE is jamming a syringe into Tyler's arm.
4. TYLER is grasping the syringe, still in his forearm, and the OBA mask is on the dash between them. THOMAS SMITH is driving the car. If possible, the flaming club is in the background as t hey drive away.
