17 to 01: That Which Survives

There's so much more to this episode than there is to this episode. The Sulu stuff needs to be better. The McCoy stuff needs to be better. The Spock/Scotty stuff needs to be better. I would've supported Scotty if he'd launched a coup here.

What is the deal with Spock's hand...button...pressulator? And how are we just now talking about jeffries tubes?!

Captain America: Civil War, aka Avengers 2.5, aka Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist IV

I take notes when I watch movies and after the movies, I post those notes on the internet. These are my notes for Captain America: Civil War. Notes made after the movie are made in <<>>'s.

Previews
Lethal Weapon again. It’s a weird movie, but we love it.
Beyonce dance and sing-along. Sounds like an idea.
Independence Day II trailer...still ‘mech.
Oh gods, Dr. Strange. Dang, I just imagine that as he’s walking up the steps a Tardis appears, obscuring him and The Doctor is all, "I’m not that strange," and it’s a Doctor Who movie.
Rogue One again. This one is still a bit too on the nose. People are angry about the installation of the space laser, that but’s literally how we build carriers. Actually get off the Internet, nerds.

TRO: 3087 - A Delay

I'm working on the next design. This is one my lower high priorities because I really want to get it out of my system. I'm closing in on the end, which means that all the entries I've put off because I wasn't as enthusiastic about them are 100% of what I'm doing now.

The next 'Mech is the original Leto, which only needs content cut back (it's 33% too big). I am working on it, I've just a lot happening right now.

Keanu

As you know I do, I take notes during movies and the post them on the internet after the movie. This time it's Keanu. Notes from after the movie are italicized.

Pregame
Kinda here based on the power of Key and Peele sketches.

I mean, sprinting v. running, but I'm still optimistic.

Previews

Lethal Weapon...okay.
Pet Cemetery--When did Denise Crosby do this? 1989.
The Nice Guys--Looks good. I mean, Shane Black so of course it seems cool.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping--Is this an Andy Samberg movie...no. A Lonely Island Movie. Ok, kinda sucks actually Bill Haeder is an American Treasure and I’m back.
The Dumb Food Movie--Ok. Fuck this. I hope this trailer does not include the orgy scene. Sausage Party. It’s called Sausage Party.

17 to 01: Is There No Truth in Beauty?

There's so much happening in this episode. Commercialism. Diana Muldaur. Stolen reels. Friendzoning. Broken aesops. Jackie Chan.

Good episode? Bad episode? Good lesson? Bad lesson? "Is There No Truth in Beauty" is a series of contradictions, much like Dr. Miranda Jones.

Action Comics #27, which introduced Batman, premiered in 1939. I was also wrong about Marvel's Golden Age. Technically, that era ended with the publication of Fantastic Four #1, which revolutionized Marvel Comics and possibly the superhero comics medium.

This Captain America Thing

As you may or may not know, Captain America was recently revealed to have been a Hydra Agent all along. Marvel editors had a Time interview pushing the comic and Marvel's been all-in promoting this story. Predictably, the retcon about the guy who exists to fight Nazis having been a member of a proto-Nazi organization this whole time has gotten a lot of ire from fans.

I finally threw in the towel on superhero comics when one o’ my favorite superh- people, Midnighter, who is cool as fuck, learned he was dating Prometheus in disguise. Prometheus, one o’ my favorite villains used his proximity to Midnighter to lure him into a trap, circumvent his fight computer, and then just fuckkin’ stab him for reals. Then? Then? Midnighter punches him to death.

17 to 01: For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky

In "For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky," I finally give away my love of My Chemical Romance with my stated preference for overly long names. The best thing about this episode is how much it supports the McCoy as a secret agent angle. Thank the gods for that or else it'd be pretty boring.

Also, it's only fair to list the Space Ex-Wives Club in detail: T'Pring (Spock), Elaan of Troyus (Kirk), Miramanee (Kirok), Natira (McCoy), Joycelyn Darnell (McCoy, beta canon), Tonia Barrows (the yeoman from "Shore Leave." The marriage is incredibly beta canon).

Palliative is actually healing, but in a way that doesn't address the underlying problem. I was accidentally using it correctly. #FabriniObama

TRO: 3087 - Leto II

3087 is a Battletech alternate universe where The Jihad never happened. Instead, political fracturing continues in the wake of the technological and military upheavals of the 3050's. Its history is told through the pages and designs of TRO: 3087. With any luck this series will be the last anyone hears about 3087.

Leto II LTO-2-1T
Overview
The success of the Leto OmniMech created demand for the Federated Hellfire Territories’ newest design. Typically, they were reultcant to share any of their Phoebus-series designs. After the fall of Talcott, the Word of Blake convinced them to create the Leto II on the back of the Hellspawn production lines.
The Blakists encouraged trade with their allies in the Draconis Combine, the Mercenaries’ Alliance, and the Free Worlds League. Reluctantly, the Territories agreed, but after the orders were placed they shorted production. Costs of the anticipated ‘Mech shot up and the FHT filled their coffers while the “allies” committed to their orders took a seven-figure bath on the whole exchange.
Despite the financial cost and prerequisite dealing with the Federated Hellfire Territories, there’s nothing like the Leto II for fire support outside of The Clans or The Territories.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

There are so many parts of my childhood I'd like to hold under the water until they stop making noise.

17 to 01: The Mark of Gideon

You remember how we agreed on things last week? That's over. I'm gettin' better at gettin' over that. I really wanna focus on the PC/NPC divide and how it's exemplified in this episode. Also, Derek needs more imaginary story to make this imaginary story feel important.

This might be my first non-sexual use of the word "lick these balls." This might also be the episode that puts Season 3 under the NSFW tag on iTunes.

I got sprung a bit here and forgot there is totally a scene with Odona and Hodin where she's completely up on what's happening and lying the whole time. Sorry.

The Community episode was "Regional Holiday Music." Apparently Spoilers: JFK Dies is a Hulu series. Not Amazon. My bad. I'm also working on that thing where my sentences trail off like a question. Derek walked into my Wolverine rebuttal the comic was Star Trek/X-Men, released in 1996.

TRO: 3087 - Ruppell Vulture

3087 is a Battletech alternate universe where The Jihad never happened. Instead, political fracturing continues in the wake of the technological and military upheavals of the 3050's. Its history is told through the pages and designs of TRO: 3087. With any luck this series will be the last anyone hears about 3087.

Ruppell Vulture RAF-03
Overview
The final battles of the ilClan War were brutal affairs, slugfests which were determined more by raw anger and tenacity than clever maneuvers and tactical surprise. Warriors would face their Blooding in a live action and be placed in command of a cluster of sibkin. Bloodnames were awarded by fiat or default. Clan warships dating their origins to the first Star League were crashed with a frequency that would make an AFFC admiral blush.
In this carnage, the Jade Falcons saw sophisticated, front-line ‘Mechs like the Turkina and Night Gyr cut down brutally by the Wolves’ tandem charge missiles and plasma cannons. However, allied and second-line Kingfishers and Highlander IIC’s endured battles on dogged persistence, often surviving long enough to take glory the Falcons had fought so hard for.
After the war, the specter of that combat hovered over the fractured remnants of Clan society. Too haughty to ask the Ghost Bears for help, the Falcons began the creation of the Ruppell Vulture, a hearty, cost-effective front-line OmniMech made to rebuild their forces.
The speed with which the Ruppell Vulture moved from design to production was so fast that it’s suspected that its design was based heavily on a pre-existing BattleMech.
