Denver 5 Comics, 36-40

Denver 5 is an unillustrated comic strip about a group of dicks that are vaguely acquainted with one another because they are all endowed with metahuman abilities. Character descriptions are here.

Comic 036

1. THOMAS SMITH are TYLER FOSS are in Tyler's cell block. Snake is fighting down laughter and even wiping away a tear.

Smith

"You are literally, heh-heh, the only person here who cares about that."

2. Same scene. Closer on Smith as he wraps a hand around Tyler's cell bars as if to steady himself. The other is off to the side, as if demonstrating something.

Smith

"Prosecutors want convictions. The Michaels family wants someone punished."

3. Same scene. Closer on Smith, who's now gripping the bars with two hands and leaning in.

Officer

(1)"Childs certainly doesn't care how guilty he is."

(2) "Would you rather stay in his place?"

4. Same scene. Same distance from the two, but pivoting the POV to focus on Tyler through the bars, who bears a combination of shame and resignation.

Tyler

"No."

Comic 037 
1. Outside of the police station. DOCTOR ROBERTS has his pad out and his earpiece on. Above the eave there's THE SPIDER, sulking in shadows, his head, peering over the side.

2. Same shot. DOCTOR ROBERTS is still moving his fingers over the pad. He's looking up and to the right, where The Spider's head was. THE SPIDER is still on the eave, and he's listening through it.

Doctor Roberts

"Guy, we need to look up a Jessie Childs. Small-time drug dealer."

3. Same shot. DOCTOR ROBERTS is still running his fingers over the pad. THE SPIDER is taking off with a resolute expression.

Doctor Roberts

"Was at the club fire tonight. A girl OD'ed on his stuff."

4. Same shot. THE SPIDER is gone. DOCTOR ROBERTS is still running his fingers over the pad and smiling now.

Doctor Roberts

"Man, these birds are so angry!"

Comic 038
1. Back in the cell block with TYLER FOSS and SMITH.

Smith

"So, as soon as we get this Jessie guy, you'll be out."

2. Same shot. Tyler is incredulous. Smith is looking at him and pointing at his shoes.

Tyler

"We?"

Smith

"Not me. Shoes like these are for releasing criminals, not catching them."

3. Same shot.

Tyler

"Ha-ha, so I guess I'll put off that break-out."

4. Same scene. THOMAS SMITH has TYLER by the shirt. His look is intense. His words are giant, purple, bold.

Smith

"You will absolutely not break out."

Tyler

"I will absolutely not break out."

Comic 039
1. THOMAS SMITH and TYLER FOSS are in Tyler's cell block. Smith is carrying a briefcase. Smith is turning to leave.

Smith

"You'll be here a few more days."

2. Same scene. THOMAS SMITH is almost to the corner.

Tyler

"You can't get me out on bail or something?"

Smith
"Yeah, I could."

3. Same scene. TYLER is disconcerted. SMITH is gone.

Tyler

4. Same scene. THOMAS SMITH is poking his head around the corner. TYLER is surprised.

Smith

"You didn't say thanks for getting you out of the club."

Comic 40
1. Back on the main floor of the police station. SMITH is leaving a room. CYBER PARANOID is leaning on a wall outside. Smith offers the briefcase and a $50 to Cyber Paranoid

Smith

"Here. $50 extra if no one knows it was gone."

2. THOMAS SMITH is walking forward, towards the door. CYBERPARANOID is no longer there. Smith is texting.

Phone (Incoming Message. Jagged 'bubble')

"DrBob: Done?"

Phone (Outgoing Message. Square 'bubble')

"Done."

3. THOMAS SMITH is in the same frame as the door. DOCTOR ROBERTS is coming back inside, pocketing his pad, and smiling.

Smith

"Done?"

Doctor Roberts

"Done."

4. Same scene. DOCTOR ROBERTS and THOMAS SMITH are next to one another and walking out. CYBER PARANOID is leaning by the door and pointing at Smith with a grin. Doctor Roberts is concerned.

Cyber Paranoid

"Done."

Doctor Roberts

"Done?"
