17 to 01: Season 1 Supplemental

All good things must come to an end and after six months we have reached the end of 17 to 01's first season. We're going to take some breaks between seasons to keep with the pacing of Star Trek produced, so we've got at least one more coming before the end of The Original Series.

We've got a lot to reflect on after the first season and a lot of improvements we want to make for the second season. If you're interested in behind the scenes stuff and some nuts and bolts of amateurs making a podcast, you're in luck.

Standing here in the future of the second season, sometimes good things get better. You'll see that next week.

What *is* your preferred distribution channel for the podcast? like, if I were to try and gain you additional listeners, where should I link them to?

You're adding credits to the end of each ep, right? So--on the chance you've not thought of this yet--you could keep your intro ("I've watched star trek 17 times" "I'm watching it for the first time") as whatever sounds best in a soundbyte and then work whatever explanation seems warranted into your end-credits.

I'm not sure about a preferred channel. iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/17-to-01-star-trek-watch-along/id1019376561) is the lowest common denominator; I figure lots of folks already use it. My only problem getting searches is that folks will search for "Seventeen to One" or "17 to 1" or something as if it isn't literally the number on the side of the ship.

But any link. You can send them to vanvelding.com.

We've proper mangled the intros for season two already, but that's a pretty great idea. :( I'll run it by Derek for the Season 2 Supplemental though.

Cool.

Also, remember back when you were trying to pick out ten eps that would most concisely help someone grok the essentials of Star Trek? Whenever the season three supplemental rolls around, I'd be curious to hear Derek's take on which eps are most essential to grokking ST:TOS.
