17 to 01: Operation: Annihilate!

"Operation: Annihilate!" is a half-assed zombie episode with dodgy writing and questionable choices in casting, editing, characterization, and even wardrobe. It's not a bad episode; it's just a miss.

I also ramble a bit, unkindly, about people who turn to Star Trek for science and cool ships.

17 to 01 is available on iTunes. It updates Thursdays at 01:00 AM CT and Friday nights at 8:30 PM ET / 9:30 CT. We're also, amazingly, on Stitcher.

That does in fact happen during Star Trek: Into Darkness.

Dang, that neck-pinched transporter jockey recovered quick.

When they were reciting everything that happens close to the sun, I thought for sure the answer was going to be "gravity." Along with what Derek said about melting the apparatus, 9000 degrees probably have made it glow with heat too...

Huh, in the room outside the blinding lab, the wall panels aren't set properly, they have gaps between them. Maybe that's how the light's getting in - by shining through the fourth wall. *rimshot*

I get what you're saying about Kirk's family being completely pointless to the plot, but I like that they *tried* to show the crew have family, and I don't really imagine any other episode pulling it off any better; also, listening to you guys talk about who should be saying which lines, it sounds like you could straighten a lot out by excising Kirk from the episode.

Yeah, those gaps for the light are just another of the questionable scientific elements to this episode. Good 4th wall bit.

One of the ongoing nags I have is about civilian clothes and that extends to family and a life outside of Starfleet as well. DS9 is the first series to cover that well and it's sooo far away. :( So yeah, I prefer showing some personal life, even if it feels shoehorned in.
