Dax

I'd be angrier if this episode called itself "Jadzia," because that would have been misleading. We learn a lot about Curzon here, but very little about Jadzia.

Also, where's our feminist compass for this episode? Bashir is clearly creepy for not taking an explicit "no" as a "yes," but his refusal to hit someone (ostensibly) because they're a woman? How the story makes it good that he follows Jadzia? That Sisko wants to punch Curzon, but doesn't punch Jadzia, but only because she's a woman? Trill episodes, to their merit, put gender reckoning into a tailspin so I'm at a loss.

Nine Deeps of Space is a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine watchalong podcast. New episodes usually go up Sunday evenings at 10 PM CST. Episodes are hosted on Anchor, but are available on most podcast platforms.

"It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of sumbitch or another." - Malcolm Reynolds

Idle thoughts only:

Oh hey, minute 9 to 10, sitting in Odo's office, security monitors show station windows from the outside with people walking the promenade! neat!

"He sleeps in a bucket, we think he's immortal" - Odo *is* a good spin on the ol' TOS "we tripped over another godling" trope.

Extradition hearing instead of a trial - kinda nice to see other parts of the legal system, even if it is still ultimately about murder.

...guess this ep is an inversion of the one where Kirk gets split in two.

Darak makes an interesting point about how, this being Curzon's story, that it's mainly told by actors who aren't Jadzia. Will try to remember to watch for that kind of thing.

Man, the statue on this widow's wall, circa 34:28, I can't decide if it's a "my husband was a war hero" statue or an "of course Curzon was in my bed" statue.

You're wrinkling my brain!

Kurzon was a real bastard, but he was also an absolute legend.
